What’s hanging next to your toothbrush?  If the answer is nothing you didn’t follow what we were asked to do in last Sunday’s sermon.  What should be placed next to your toothbrush so you see them everyday are pictures of the people that mean the most to you.  These pictures should remind us to treat everyone the way we would treat the people we love and care the most about.  In the picture here James is telling us all that we better do what Pastor Lorrie says, OR ELSE!!! Like the bible says, “A little child shall lead them.”

Reception for Frankie

This Sunday, August 22nd, Frankie Weinberger will be returning to Calvary to provide the piano and/or organ music for our worship service.  We would like to have a little reception for her after the service to wish her good luck as she begins a new direction in her life, and to thank her for all she has done for our congregation over the years.  Frankie started as music director at Calvary in September of 2005, worked under interim Pastor Bill Uttke for two years, and then with Pastor Lorrie. She played both organ and piano at the blended-style Sunday service, and also some Wednesday and Saturday services. Her responsibilities included directing the choir, organizing and leading praise teams, and working with soloists and ensembles for special worship music.  As of August 2010, Frankie will be taking extra time to complete a two-year medical fellowship in integrative medicine through the University of Arizona Tucson, and therefore resigned as music director.  She has been a blessing to Calvary during the time she was with us, and will no doubt continue to be the same to those around her as she moves on to where God is leading her.  Please plan on being here on this Sunday to wish Frankie God’s blessings.

Lawn Cutting

We are still in need of people to help with cutting the lawn at church.  If you would like to help but aren’t able to do the work yourself, there is still a way for you to get the job done.  A lawn service has offered to do the cutting and trimming for $75.00.  If you would like to cover the cost of a cutting (or as many as you are able to) please contact Ron Wagner at 414-463-8074.  Thank you.

New Lawn Mower Fund

It was necessary to purchase a new lawn mower for our church.  If you are able to contribute to help cover some of the cost of this mower, please designate this on your offering. Thank you.

Mission Team
There’s been a good response to joining the Mission Team.  So far 8 people have signed up, but we can always use more.  Our church will definitely be in charge of making the chili-mac for the meal program at St. Ben’s on the 2nd Monday of each month.  This means we’ll be preparing the chili-mac on Sunday and transporting it down to St. Ben’s so it’s there and ready for Monday’s meal.  Our first day of cooking will be Sunday September 12th.  An organizational meeting for everyone on the Mission Team will be held on Thursday August 26th at 7:00 PM.  At this time we’ll decide on a group leader for the meal preparation and divide into teams for the cooking.  We also want to look into other mission projects in our community that the whole church can get involved in.  This will also be discussed at the August 26th meeting.  If you would like to be a part of the ministry, please sign up on the sheet in Fellowship Hall, call the church office at 414-461-7375, or email s.schroederus@yahoo.com
This is a great opportunity to not only serve our neighbors who need our help, but also get to know fellow church members better.  Please consider being a part of this outreach ministry.

insidechurchinsidechurchPrayer Chain In Need of More Members

There are times in our lives when we all are in need of extra prayers, and Calvary has a Prayer Chain in place for these times.  If members of Calvary need prayers for themselves, their family, or friends, they can call the church office and these prayer requests are passed along to a member of our church.  This person calls the next person on the “prayer chain” who in turn calls the next one, and so on.  Then each of these people pray for whatever your prayer needs are. The power of prayer is an amazing thing, and just knowing that there are others who are praying for you can be such a comfort.  We are looking to expand the number of people making up this important ministry of our church.  To be a part of the Prayer Chain all you will have to do when you are called with a prayer request is call the next person on the list, and then pray for whatever has been asked for.  If you would like to be a part of this group, please sign up on the sheet in Fellowship Hall or call the church office, 414-461-7375.  Thank you.

Automatic Withdrawal

Would you like to save time on Sunday mornings and make sure that supporting the work of your church is a priority in your life?  Consider automatic withdrawal for your church offering.  Forms for this will be passed out this Sunday and can also be found on the table in Fellowship Hall.  Once you fill out the form, it can be returned to the office in an envelope labeled “Automatic Withdrawal”.  Two laminated cards that say “I Participate in Automatic Withdrawal”  will be placed in you mailbox.  These can be put in the offering plate if you choose, and the ushers will return them to your mailbox after the service.

Please keep in your prayers:
Kyle Goldbach, Bruce Liederbach, Kathleen Scharff, Chrissie Stolp, Brenda Bauer, Ryan Weiss and his family, Walt and Shirley Ode, Jeanne Rabe, Dick Gaskell and his family, Pat Zoerb and her family, Tom Thessin recuperating at home, Harriet Gross, and Bev and Tom Zeller.

August 15th was the anniversary of the end of World War II.  As we remember the 405,399 men and women who gave their lives in this war and the 670,846 who were wounded, let us keep in our prayers those men and women who are serving today.  As we pray for their safety, let us continue to work for peace.
